2024 is my year and it can be yours, too. This is your sign to get your $h*t together and do the dang thing!
Ladies, 2024 is our year! This is the year that we stop settling. It’s also going to be a year of tough love, at least for me. As always, this post may contain affiliate links that help me earn a small commission at no additional cost to you.
Tough Love
Here’s the thing…I WANT to be the best me. I WANT to be a #bossbabe. I want to be THAT GIRL. But, I’ll let you in on a little secret, that girl works HARD. I am a busy mom of 5. There are simply not enough hours in the day with my kids and a full-time job. I find myself always leaving tasks for tomorrow. I don’t want to leave things on my to do list, but what choice do I have?
Well, I DO have a choice. I don’t love my full-tie job. I want to make content creation and fitness coaching my full-time job. I want to run this blog full time (I’m a writer, after all). Plus, one day I’d like to finish those novels floating around my hard drive. I’ve spent a lot of years telling myself this is a season. That I’d have time when my kids grew, but the truth is I won’t ever have the time/life I’m dreaming of if I don’t change NOW. Staying stuck is a choice just like change and growth are choices.
So, what does that mean for my vision of THAT girl?
Staying stuck is a choice just like change and growth are choices.
Who is she?
To me she:
- Wakes up early
- Prioritizes her wellness routine
- Dedicates time to meal prepping, so she spends less time cooking throughout the week
- Doesn’t go to Starbucks every morning
- Drinks her water
- Gets dress, does her hair, and presents herself on the outside the way she feels on the inside
- Shows up on social media as her most authentic self
- Encourages other women
- Makes true friendships
- Spends quality time with her family
- Keeps a clean home
Whooo….that’s a long list
It is a long list. It might be an unattainable list, but I will never conquer the list if I don’t start with one item at a time. Right now, that looks like waking up early to exercise. Now I will be the first to admit…I am not a morning person. I am the opposite of a morning person. I LOATHE mornings. But I have come to accept (and it was hard) that I simply can’t fit in exercise if I don’t do it first thing. This has a ripple effect as well. If I am late getting up, I’m tired. I don’t eat a good breakfast or shake. I go to Starbucks, needing the boost of sugar and energy, I don’t look put together because I’m rushing out the door, etc, etc, etc…
See what I mean? It’s all connected. So, I am making the commitment to get up early for a month. Just a month, to see how it goes. To see if I can start to appreciate the morning. I’ll be talking about it on social media as well because others may find it encouraging to see someone trying to change. It may inspire them to do the same.
Set yourself up for Success
Sounds great, where do we start? Well, change takes time, but one thing that helps make it more fun in the meantime are the right tools! Things like a new workout set can make all the difference in getting you to do your exercise. New pens make me want to write in my motivation journal. What can I say, I’m a shopper.
